FUOYE Protest: Another student dies from gunshot injury

Another student of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), identified as Joseph Icon, died on Wednesday morning. The deceased, according to the Students Union President, Awodola Oluwaseun, was one of the victims that sustained gunshot injuries at a protest on Tuesday. “Another student just died this morning. I am on my way there but I’m scared because police are on the street beating up any FUOYE student at sight,” he said. The victim was a 300-level student and a campus comedian, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. Ojo Raymond, the president of the  National Association of Nigerian Students  (NANS) who was present at the hospital, told PREMIUM TIMES that the deceased died at the Federal Medical Centre, Ido in Ekiti State. reported how the students protest turned violent after police officers shot sporadically at students who tried to have a conversation with the wife of the Ekiti State governor, Bisi Fayemi, on poor electricity at the institution. Ekiti mourns as First Class Monarch, Oluyin dies

The former Chief Judge of Ekiti State and the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Ademola Ajakaye, has joined his ancestors. Oluyin died at the early hours of Friday , according to a palace source. The late Oluyin, who was the first Chief Judge of the State in 1996 at its creation, was at a time the Administrator General, National Judicial Institute (NJI). The town has begun traditional rites since Friday, which includes relocation of market and cutting of trees in the town, denoting the passage of the PeluPelu Oba. Iyin, is the town of the former Governor of Ekiti State and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief Niyi Adebayo and the Senator representing Ekiti Central at the Senate, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele. Meanwhile, Governor Kayode Fayemi , has described the passage of Oba Ajakaiye, Oyinyosaiye Uyin II, as a huge loss to the state. Eden Hazard has been voted the Professional Footballers’ Association Bristol Street Motors Premier League Fans’ Player of the Year in a poll of supporters that was open to all.
