MORATA CAN BECOME A CHELSEA GREAT ONCE HE IMPROVES HIS FINISHING

Image
His goal record is good but stats show that it could be even better as he lags behind his rivals and even his own record in previous seasons Chelsea and Alvaro Morata have been in good form this season but the 17-point gap to Manchester City can be partly attributed to their inferior finishing.  Morata is Chelsea's go-to goalscorer and he has an impressive 12 goals in his 25 appearances, 20 of which were starts, for the club. However, his conversion rate is both not as good as some of his big rivals in the Premier League or his own record back at Real Madrid.  The 25-year-old has scored with 17.9% of his shots, including blocks, in the league since joining Chelsea in a £58 million deal last summer. This is almost identical to the record of his Chelsea predecessor Diego Costa, who has scored with 18% of his shots in the league since 2016. In filling the Costa void, Morata has had to adapt to being in a new league and becoming his side's main front man after operating as

COURTOIS & HAZARD PROVE WORTH TO CHELSEA BUT MORATA'S MISSES BECOMING INCREASINGLY COSTLY

The Blues stopper was pivotal to ensure his side weren't beaten in the London derby at the Emirates having produced several world class saves On a night of high drama at the Emirates, Chelsea duo Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard illustrated just why Real Madrid are so desperate to sign them. Unfortunately, Alvaro Morata showed why los Blancos were willing to let him leave last summer. In a wonderful spectacle that finished 2-2 but could easily have gone either way, Courtois and Hazard were decisive. Indeed, when a goalkeeper concedes twice and is still a contender for man of the match, then you know he's had a great game.  Hazard left his mark on the game, winning and converting the penalty that cancelled out Jack Wilshere's emphatic opener but Courtois outshone his compatriot with an all-star display similar to the one Manchester United counterpart David de Gea produced at the same venue a month ago. The most remarkable moment of an absorbing contest came 16 min

WE MISSED A LOT OF CHANCES' - HAZARD FRUSTRATED AFTER ARSENAL DRAW

Image
Alvaro Morata was the principal culprit as the Blues were held at the Emirates Stadium, a result that left Hazard less than satisfied Eden Hazard felt Chelsea created enough chances to win their meeting with Arsenal and was frustrated to leave the Emirates Stadium with a 2-2 draw. Hector Bellerin's 92nd-minute strike rescued a point for the Gunners in a pulsating derby clash on Wednesday, after Chelsea had come from behind to lead 2-1. Jack Wilshere broke the deadlock midway through the second half before Hazard's penalty and a Marcos Alonso goal looked to have secured the win for the visitors with six minutes remaining, only for Bellerin to equalise with a brilliant half-volley. Goalkeepers Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois made some fine saves in an engrossing contest but Chelsea arguably had the better opportunities, with Alvaro Morata missing three one-on-ones and Davide Zappacosta rattling the crossbar in the dying seconds. Hazard admitted it was a disappointing out

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata savaged after brutal triple miss against Arsenal

Arsenal’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Chelsea was one of the games of the season – but not everyone left the Emirates satisfied with their night’s work. Alvaro Morata had one of those nights where nothing goes right, spurning three brilliant chances that had fans wondering if Roman Abramovich really spent £58m bringing the him to Stamford Bridge. Early on, Morata had the perfect chance to steady his nerves when played clean through. He steadied himself, took aim… and pushed the ball wide of the far post. But he wasn’t done there. After the break, he fired wide when again one-on-one against Petr Cech – a miss that had manager Antonio Conte tearing out what remains of his hair. And in stoppage time, Morata completed his hat-trick when he fired straight at Cech. It was a miserable night – made worse for the fact ex-Chelsea man Diego Costa scored on his Atletico Madrid debut. Twitter was as unsympathetic as ever.
